NMN & NAD+Report
Does your NMN contain what the label says? Here’s what the lab tests found.
In 2021, a test of 22 NMN supplements found 14 held almost none of the NMN on their labels. In September 2026, a lab measured 6 leading brands and found something very different.
Brands have paid for promotional consideration in these articles.

In 2021, a test of 22 NMN supplements found that 14 of them contained less than 1% of the NMN on the label.
That was 5 years ago. In September 2026, a lab measured 6 of today’s leading NMN products, and every one delivered at least 90% of the NMN on its label.
The 2026 testing was commissioned and paid for by the maker of one of the six products tested.
So there are 2 tests here, and it’s worth keeping them apart.
2021: 14 out of 22
The 2021 analysis tested the NMN brands with the top market share on Amazon.
14 of the 22 contained less than 1% of the NMN on the label.
The analysis came from ChromaDex, a company now called Niagen Bioscience, which sells a rival ingredient called NR.
Those results belong to those 22 products, as they were sold in 2021. They don’t tell you what’s in any brand’s capsule today.
2026: 6 leading brands, measured
For that you need a current test, and there is one.
In September 2026, an independent 3rd-party lab measured the NMN in 6 products: NMN-99 and 5 top competitors. The testing was commissioned and paid for by the maker of one of the six products tested.
The retail packages reached the lab unopened, and its reports are dated September 17, 2026.
A serving is whatever each brand’s own label says it is.
| Product | Label says | Lab measured, per serving | Share of label |
|---|---|---|---|
| NMN-99 | 1,000 mg | 1,139.6 mg | 114% |
| Black Forest NMN 1000 mg | 1,000 mg | 905.0 mg | 90% |
| Renue By Science Liposomal NMN | 500 mg | 481.0 mg | 96% |
| partiQlar Pure NMN 500 mg | 500 mg | 466.8 mg | 93% |
| Nutricost NMN 500 mg | 500 mg | 455.1 mg | 91% |
| Genex Formulas NMN 250 mg | 250 mg | 260.7 mg | 104% |
All 5 competitors delivered between 90% and 104% of their own labels.
Genex Formulas delivered a little more than its label says. NMN-99 also delivered more NMN than its own label promises.
So if you take one of these 5 brands, the lab found about what the label promises. None of them looks anything like the 2021 results.

Where the brands differ now: the dose
The labels held up. What changes from brand to brand is how much NMN the label offers in the first place.
More than half of the NMN supplements sold today deliver 500 mg or less per serving. In this group, 4 of the 5 competitors do.
NMN-99 measured 1,139.6 mg per serving, more NMN than any of the other 5 brands tested.
More than double the NMN of 4 out of the 5 top competitors tested.
The exception is Black Forest NMN 1000 mg, which delivered 905.0 mg.
Dose matters because of how the research was done. Doses up to 2,000 mg per day have been studied in controlled trials, and one trial found higher doses produced the greatest gains in aerobic capacity (Liao et al., 2021).
You can reach about 1,000 mg a day with a 500 mg product. It takes 2 servings.
2 things a milligram count doesn’t tell you
Which form it is. Only the beta form of NMN builds NAD+. A label that says only “NMN” leaves that out.
Who ran the test. No rule requires a supplement company to show you a 3rd-party lab test of its product.
Many brands show a certificate of analysis from the manufacturer, which isn’t the same as a test by an outside lab.
How to read “tested” on a label
“Third-party tested” is printed on a lot of NMN, and it doesn’t always mean the same thing. Here’s what each term covers.
- GMP certification
- This covers the manufacturing process: whether the facility is clean, documented and controlled. It matters, but it doesn’t measure what’s in a capsule.
- Raw material testing
- A test of the powder before it became a capsule. Useful, but it isn’t a test of the finished product.
- Certificate of analysis
- A lab result for one batch. Ask which batch, which lab, which method, and whether it states the form of the NMN.
- Published lab report
- A report you can open and read before you buy. This is the one that lets you check a brand for yourself.
The simplest check is to ask the company that makes your NMN for an outside lab’s report on the finished product.
Why the amount in the capsule matters
Your body uses NMN for one purpose: to rebuild NAD+. NMN converts to NAD+ in a single step and goes straight to work.
And NAD+ does a lot. It fuels the sirtuins, the enzymes science links to longer life.
It powers the enzymes that fix tens of thousands of daily DNA breaks, and it’s how your cells make their energy.
It also fuels your neurons, drives energy metabolism across your cardiovascular system, and supports the cells that build collagen and elastin.
NAD+ begins to drop around 25. 25% is gone by your mid-30s, and 50% is gone by 50.
Taking NMN has been shown to more than double NAD+ levels, restoring NAD+ to the level it was at age 25. (This is true on average but not for everyone.)
That’s why it’s worth knowing how much NMN you’re really getting.
The highest dose of the 6
NMN-99 had the highest measured dose of the 6: 1,139.6 mg per serving, against 1,000 mg on its label.

The testing was commissioned and paid for by the maker of one of the six products tested.
NMN-99 is made with Uthever, the world’s first patented NMN backed by its own randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled human trial. It’s verified at 99+% purity in the beta form.
Every batch is tested by an independent 3rd-party lab, and the results are published.
That 1,000 mg serving is a full clinical-range dose. In a controlled trial, NMN at this level raised blood NAD+ 3.7 times above placebo (Bhasin et al., 2023).
It’s a good fit if you want 1,000 mg in a single serving, and want to read the lab report first.
